Philosophy of Care
I truly believe there is no one-size-fits-all model for birth and that autonomy and informed decision-making are cornerstones of respectful, safe maternity care.
My specialty and passion are supporting the normal physiological process of labor and caring for women experiencing healthy, low-risk pregnancies who strongly feel that a community-based model is the right fit for their birth. I value respectful collaboration and open conversations.
Much of my clinical training took place in a Wisconsin Amish community, where I gained hands-on experience supporting families with unique cultural needs and managing a range of complications in low-resource settings.
I received my CPM credential in September 2023 and became licensed in Idaho in November 2023. I have a special interest in emergency medicine and hold current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP), and have completed additional training in emergency birth skills, breech birth, and doula support. I am not a physician or nurse-midwife and do not represent myself as such.
My Story
I have one wild, wonderful 4-year-old boy. I was halfway through my pregnancy when I found myself facing single motherhood and a pregnancy complicated by Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG)—a complication causing persistent and sometimes debilitating nausea and vomiting throughout pregnancy.
I planned a home birth, but after a long and challenging labor due to my baby’s posterior position, I transferred to the hospital for rest and support. In the end, after 32 hours, I delivered a healthy baby boy and began my journey into postpartum and motherhood. I am blessed and privileged to have a community of support.
My birth shaped me in ways I’m still working through. It has also lit a fire in me: the belief that people deserve present and individual support, in the joy, the unknown, and the hard moments.
Outside of midwifery, I spend my time hiking with my son, reading, experimenting with mixing herbal tea blends, and stepping on Legos!
